1. 09:00 Shuri Castle (UNESCO Ryukyu Kingdom) 2 hours

   The 15th-century Ryukyu Kingdom palace — UNESCO World Heritage. The main keep was destroyed in a 2019 fire and is under reconstruction; the surrounding gates, gardens and Tamaudun royal mausoleum are open.

   Cost: ¥400 TIP: Yui Rail Shuri Station 15-minute walk. The main building reconstruction is visible behind scaffolding — expected to complete by 2026-2027.
2. 11:30 Lunch — Shuri Soba (1907 heritage) 1 hour

   Okinawa's most-recognized soba shop — 5-minute walk from Shuri Castle. Thick wheat noodles in pork-bonito broth with sliced pork ribs.

   Cost: ¥600-1,200 TIP: Cash and cards. Lunch only — closes at 14:00 or when the day's noodles sell out. Closed Sundays.
3. 13:30 Tamaudun (Ryukyu Royal Mausoleum, UNESCO) 1 hour

   The royal mausoleum of the Ryukyu Kings — UNESCO World Heritage as part of the Gusuku Sites complex. 5-minute walk from Shuri Castle.

   Cost: ¥300 TIP: Less visited than Shuri Castle but the Ryukyu Kingdom history is interesting.
4. 15:00 Yui Rail to Makishi 30 min

   Yui Rail monorail from Shuri to Makishi Station — fast and scenic.

   Cost: ¥330 TIP: IC card (Okica or Suica) or cash.
5. 15:30 Heiwa Dori + Makishi Public Market 2.5 hours

   Naha's main local market street — Heiwa Dori arcade for street food and Awamori dealers, Makishi Public Market for the pick-fish-and-cook-upstairs experience.

   Cost: Free entry; ¥1,500-4,000 food TIP: Cash. The pick-and-cook at Makishi is the iconic Naha experience — pick fish downstairs, pay the fishmonger, take it upstairs to a small restaurant that cooks it for ¥500-700.
6. 18:00 Kokusai Dori (International Street) 2 hours

   Naha's main tourist shopping street — 1.6 km of souvenir shops, restaurants, Awamori dealers, Steakhouse 88 branches. The standard evening walk for first-time visitors.

   Cost: Variable TIP: Walking distance from Makishi Market. The southern end (Tenbusu) is busier; the northern end (Asahibashi) is calmer.
7. 20:00 Dinner — Yunangi (Ryukyu izakaya) 2 hours

   A small Naha izakaya since 1970 — the standard Ryukyu cuisine introduction for foreign visitors. Set menu walks through goya champuru, rafute, umibudou (sea grapes), tofuyo, plus Awamori pairings.

   Cost: ¥2,000-4,000 TIP: Reserve 1+ days ahead — the room only seats 30. Cards and cash. Closed Sundays.

1. 08:00 Rental car or day tour bus to Churaumi 2 hours

   Churaumi Aquarium is 2 hours north of Naha by car. Pre-arrange a rental car ($50-80/day, international driver's license required) or a Klook day tour bus ($40-80, includes Churaumi entry).

   Cost: Rental $50-80 or bus $40-80 TIP: Rental car is more flexible for the rest of the day (Cape Manzamo, Onna Beach). The Okinawa Expressway tollway is the fastest route.
2. 10:00 Churaumi Aquarium 3 hours

   Okinawa's most-visited attraction — the 80 m × 30 m × 10 m Kuroshio Tank with whale sharks and manta rays is the world's third-largest aquarium tank. Allow 3 hours for the full visit including the dolphin show and turtle pool.

   Cost: ¥2,180 TIP: Pre-book through Klook for 15-20% off. The 14:00 and 17:00 feeding shows at the Kuroshio Tank are the photo highlights.
3. 13:30 Lunch — Motobu seafood or Okinawa soba 1 hour

   Lunch at one of the Motobu peninsula restaurants — fresh seafood from the local port, or a regional Okinawa soba shop.

   Cost: ¥800-2,000 TIP: Most aquarium-area restaurants close 14:00-17:00 — eat right after the aquarium visit.
4. 15:00 Cape Manzamo (elephant rock formation) 1.5 hours

   A 20 m limestone cliff on Okinawa's central west coast — the shape resembles an elephant's trunk dipping into the East China Sea. One of the most-photographed Okinawa spots.

   Cost: Free TIP: Free parking. Late afternoon (16:00-17:00) light is best for the rock formation; sunset is also popular.
5. 17:00 Onna Village beach + sunset 1.5 hours

   Onna Village is the central west coast resort strip — Halekulani, Hyatt and Ritz all within 15 km. Walking on Tiger Beach or any of the resort beaches for sunset.

   Cost: Free beach access TIP: Most resort beaches are open to non-guests; check signage. Sunset around 18:30 in summer, 18:00 in winter.
6. 19:00 Dinner — Shiroux (Halekulani Okinawa) or Onna seafood 2 hours

   Splurge: Shiroux at Halekulani Okinawa for Okinawan-French degustation (¥10,000-25,000). Mid-range: a Onna seafood restaurant (¥3,000-6,000).

   Cost: ¥3,000-25,000 depending on choice TIP: Reserve Shiroux 1+ weeks ahead. Smart casual / no shorts at Shiroux.

   A reconstructed traditional Ryukyu village with relocated 100+ year-old Okinawan farmhouses, daily Eisa drum performances, hands-on craft workshops (Okinawan glass, bingata dyeing). The standard cultural introduction for first-time visitors.

   Cost: ¥1,500 TIP: Check the day's performance schedule at the entrance. The 11:00 Eisa drum show is the photo draw.
2. 11:30 American Village (Mihama) 2 hours

   A shopping and entertainment complex built on a former US military base — themed buildings, the giant Ferris wheel, taco rice and steakhouses. The most-recognized American-influenced Okinawan area.

   Cost: Free entry TIP: Free parking. Walking distance to Sunset Beach for the sunset view.
3. 13:30 Lunch — Taco Rice Cafe Kijimuna + Blue Seal 1.5 hours

   The Okinawan-American taco rice invention at Taco Rice Cafe Kijimuna, followed by Blue Seal ice cream (beni-imo or Okinawa salt flavors).

4. 15:30 Return to Naha + Heiwa Dori last shopping 2.5 hours

   Drive back to Naha (1 hour) for last-day souvenir shopping — Awamori, beni-imo sweets, Okinawan glass.

   Cost: Variable TIP: Awamori bottles are the standard souvenir; many distilleries offer tasting. Allow time to repack.
5. 18:30 Final dinner — A&W or Steakhouse 88 (Naha) 1.5 hours

   Final Okinawan-American dinner — A&W for the root beer + Mozza burger, or Steakhouse 88 for the post-drink late-night steak tradition.
