January is Pattaya at its best — the heart of the cool, dry season, with sunny days around 32°C/24°C, low humidity for the tropics, and very little rain (about 15mm). The seas are at their calmest, so Koh Larn ferries run reliably and the water is clearest. This is peak tourist season. It's the ideal month for island days, the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Garden, and the beaches, with comfortable evenings for night markets and sunset dining on Pratamnak Hill. Mornings and late afternoons are perfect for outdoor sightseeing; the midday sun is still strong. The trade-off is crowds and price. New Year carryover keeps the first part of the month busy, and the best beachfront resorts run high — book ahead. UV is extreme year-round here, so high-SPF, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and water are essentials even on the cooler-feeling days.

February stays firmly in the cool-dry sweet spot — sunny, around 33°C/25°C, with low rain (about 20mm) and calm, clear seas. Conditions for Koh Larn, snorkeling, and the beaches are excellent, and evenings are comfortable for dining and markets. Chinese New Year, which falls in late January or February depending on the year, brings a wave of regional visitors and a lively atmosphere, along with higher prices and busier sights and beaches around the holiday. Outside that window, February is reliably pleasant. It's a top month for the full Pattaya mix — temples, gardens, islands, and sea-view dining. As always, the UV is extreme: sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water matter even when the breeze makes it feel manageable. Book accommodation ahead, especially over Chinese New Year.

December is arguably Pattaya's best month — the cool-dry season at its peak, with sunny, dry days around 31°C/23°C (the coolest, most comfortable of the year), low humidity, and very little rain (about 10mm). The seas are calm and clear, making it ideal for Koh Larn, snorkeling, and beach days. It's also the busiest and priciest period. The run-up to New Year fills hotels, beaches, and restaurants, with countdown events and a festive buzz across the city — book accommodation and any special dinners well ahead, especially for the final week. Everything is at its best: comfortable mornings and late afternoons for the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch, and the Big Buddha; calm island crossings; and pleasant evenings for night markets, cabaret shows, and sea-view dining. UV remains extreme even in the cooler air, so don't skip the sunscreen and water.
